A member asked:

Is there any danger to become kidney donor if my close family members are all diabetic?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Low danger: If you are not diabetic, then i would venture that it is a minor concern. Yes, it is possible that you could become diabetic someday, but with good glycemic and BP control, your risk of kidney damage would be low. It is a truly beautiful and altruistic thing to donate a kidney. A family history of diabetes is a concern, but may not get in the way.
