Hormonal: First consult your gynecologist for advice. Hormonal changes during menses can cause fluid retention and affect your personality and mood. Often these disorders, in my opinion, can be avoided by taking a mild diuretic just before your period preventing the fluid buildup that can affect the brain. In any event, your gynecologist has much more experience and information about your question.
