Ramsey Hunt?: Zelitrex is valacyclovir, used for herpes infections. Herpes zoster (shingles) and type 1 herpes simplex virus sometimes cause problems like this, but they're not the only cause. Check back with the doctor if not improving in a few days. Sometimes higher doses are needed (e.g. 1 gram -- two 500 mg pills -- 3 times a day).
