Not from the metal: Heavy metal poisoning would affect more than your taste. Wonder if you may have iron deficiency since your diet contains little or no iron.

Concern re: mercury: Iron overload seems unlikely though leafy greens are a good source of iron. Some fish have high levels of mercury and some have low levels. See my link- If you eat a lot of the types of fish rich in mercury you could have mercury toxicity. Blood tests can show recent exposures though an integrative Dr. can do a chelation challenge test too. See https://tinyurl.com/y2em8lhl
