A member asked:

How long does it take a pulmonary embolism to cause heart failure or does it cause that at all?

Pulmonary embolus: That is a key differential. Small blood clots that go to the lung cause no elevation in lung pressure, and as such no symptoms of heart failure. When a person gets multiple or large clots the pressure in the lungs increases and this causes stress on the hear and right heart failure.
