Saline washout: At that age they are more sensitive to environmental irritants like dust or fumes which trigger nasal congestion & cough. Cough medicines are worthless. A good nasal wash out with saline and removing irritants works best. Removing irritants/fumes/etc. from the environment helps in the long run.
