A member asked:

My 8 year old suffers from seasonal allergies, we give him claritin which helps but he gets nose bleeds when using, is there another otc allergy med?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nasal saline: Nasal saline in gel form can be applied to the nasal openings prior to bed. This functions to keep the tissues that bleed moist & reduce the frequency of nose bleeds. Nasal saline can also be used to rinse the nose daily & reduce retained pollen. Sometimes a nasal steroid like nasocort used daily can reduce both allergies & bleeds.
