HIFU treatment: HIgh intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) destroys smaller fibroids effectively, but as with most destructive agents, healing must occur over a period of time. It is best to resume birth control for 6-8 weeks after such treatments, as the inflammatory process may interfere with a successful pregnancy. Ask your surgeon who performed the HIFU about his/her recommendations.
