Treat inflammation: Prolonged cough and wheezing following a flu infection is often caused by inflammation and constriction in the airway. A virtual consult may be useful to you and your physician. Nasal saline, a cool air mist humidifier and evaluation by your PCP is indicated. Discuss possible use of inhaled medication with your physician. Avoid smoke exposure and keep the baby's environment clean.
