A member asked:

One 4mm polyp found in cecum and sent to pathology. had four non cancerous polyps 5 years ago. will i need another colonoscopy in 3-5 years?

Tubular adenomas?: It depends on the pathology results. If you have pre-cancerous polyps such as tubular adenomas, you will need more frequent scopes, yes. If your polyps have always been hyperplastic, you wouldn’t need a scope til age 50 unless you have a first degree relative with colon cancer or pre-cancerous polyps, which would then have you start at age 40 or 10 years younger than your relative was diagnosed.
