A member asked:

My echo shows diastolic dysfunction. i exercise almost everyday, not diabetic, no high blood pressure. does that mean i will develop heart failure?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Diastolic dysfunctio: What grade is your diastolic dysfunction? Was there any hypertrophy of the left ventricle? Do you have any valvular disorders? Do you have a relatively low diastolic blood pressure? Diastolic dysfunction is usually due to some stiffness of the left ventricle. If you have no other cardiac abnormalities and the finding is grade 1, it may be insignificant. I recommend a follow-up echo in a year.
