I almost never do: Strep A is universally sensitive to the penicillin family of drugs. When given at proper dose & duration there is rarely the need to follow up with a culture. The standard quick test will be positive with dead germ remnants so culture would be the test to do when needed. Recurrence would suggest a family member as a silent carrier. Congestion is not a reason to retest.
