A member asked:

Crushed my thumb. immediately blood formed under the nail. i can still bend it but pressure is causing pain. thumb is now swollen and constantly throbbing. what is the best action?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See doctor: If it has been a few hours since the injury you still have throbbing pain, it would be prudent to go to the emergency department of a nearby hospital as the blood collection (hematoma) under the nail may need to be drained. Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. For nutrition: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/.
