Paranyxhia: Sounds like infection or inflammation in the tissue around the nail bed . Hot compress and anti inflammatory like Advil or aleve (naproxen) might help. If does not get better or you see any underlying yellow/green color may need to be slit open to drain the pus. See your physician you may need antibiotic also
