Why are you asking?: If you are asking as someone that has done this or gotten the virus this way, i encourage you to seek counseling. That said, most the time the hiv+ person passes the virus before they know they have it - sometimes soon after they are exposed themself. This is why sexually active people that are not exclusive to their partner or suspect their partner is non-exclusive should be tested every 3-6 mos.
