Depends on meaning: "Holds her breath" can mean different things to different people. From a medical standpoint, if a baby (a person before his or her first birthday) holds her breath DUE TO A RESPIRATORY ILLNESS or has other troubles breathing, he or she is presumed to have respiratory distress. Such a baby should be taken by ambulance to the nearest Emergency Room that can care for young children.
