Are there any intestinal diseases besides cancer that can cause pain in the left side of the back back or left rib cage area?

Yes: Inflammation of pancreas, kidney and spleen can all cause pain in back on the left side. It is not feasible to provide a more meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests.
