How is it that those with diabetes should wear shoes all the time?

Neuropathy : A lot of diabetics get neuropathy or loss of protective sensation so shoes are important in helping prevent an ulcer from forming. There are shoes made for diabetics so consult a podiatrist.

Protection: If you happen to have a severe enough case of diabetic neuropathy, you won't know if your feet get injured. Shoes will protect your feet.

To protect the feet.: Shoes will help reduce the risk of stepping on something that may penetrate through the bottom of the foot. They do not need to wear them "all the time". Inside the home comfortable slippers or sandals are fine.
