Feet high risk: Diabetics have an exceptionally high risk for foot problems related to a decreased ability to feel pain and circulation problems. Their skin also is typically not as healthy because of the chronic high blood sugars. Likewise their immune systems can be compromised and the feet are often a breeding ground for germs. Foot/toe pressure points can unknowingly become ulcerated and infected.

Foot issues: Foot problems like infections and ulcers are quite common with diabetes, especially when it results in neuropathy. It's not unusual for a patient to be completely unaware of these problems so a thorough exam from your doctor should always include a look at your feet. You should also be seen by a podiatrist on a regular basis.
