Not unusual: Variations in appetite that match growth spurts/plateaus is typical at that age but can be an early sign of illness. A single tooth emerging at 8 mo is also not unusual as is tugging an ear. It also may reflect fluid in the middle ear on the same side.

Not unusual: If growth has slowed for a bit, appetite will slow. Ear tugging may be early indicator of virus, so monitor temperature and fluid intake. 8 months is not an unusual time for a tooth to erupt. It means that you should be taking your child for 1st Dental Examination (but not later than 1st b'day). Recommend Pedodontist for all the same reasons your child sees Pediatrician.
