Serious illness/pain: I would find a good palliative medicine clinic, with board-certified, fellowship-trained, physicians. Check out capc.Org for a list of programs near you. General oncologists can treat usual, routine, pain, but some patients require specialist care. "the onco doc treats the tumores; the pal care doc treats the dolores.".
