PCP for P/E/: Seeing blood in the toilet, on the outside of your stool, or with wiping is common. Fortunately, most of the causes of such rectal bleeding are not life-threatening; In addition, bleeding from higher in the digestive tract, such as the stomach, can produce black, tarry bowel movements because stomach acid turns blood black. Bismuth (such as in Pepto Bismol) and iron supplement does same.See Pcp

See doctor: Any abnormal bleeding needs to be investigated. It may be as simple as hemorrhoids or anal fissure, however, bleeding from hemorrhoids can result in anemia. It would be prudent to see your doctor as these conditions are treatable. You may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless, to avoid hard stools.

Need to consult doct: If you have discomfort, it is time to consult your doctor or a GI specialist. I suspect however that the primary problem is constipation leading to a hemorrhoid problem. Try taking fiber supplement and perform regular exercise in the interim while waiting to consult your doctor.
