A member asked:

Can we substitute other liquids instead of formula milk for eight month old baby?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Why ?: An 8 mo infant needs the nutrient provided by breast milk or a formula. They have no need for any other fluids since their primary feed is balanced to provide the proper amount of fluids & nutrients. A supplement of a few ounces of water might be a way to allow other family/friends to participate in child nurturing but it is otherwise unnecessary. Extra fluid just means extra pee diapers.
