Some basics: Fever reducing meds are not like adding gas to your car. They influence the natural fever response of an illness by taking a degree or so off the peak. Many viruses will have swings in the fever & they often cycle up/down over 2-6 hr wave, the response is unpredictable. If you give a med on the way down it appears to work. If given when ready to go up, it seems to fail.
