A member asked:

Im 32 yrs old and 11weeks wks pregnant. can a small uterine polyp cause higher miscarriage rate than if i didnt have a polyp? cancer worry as well?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Polyps & pregnancy: Uterine polyps can interfere with implantation of a fertilized ovum as well as grow under the influence of pregnancy hormones. As a result, if the polyp grows rapidly it can compete fro space in the intrauterine cavity with the existing pregnancy increasing the risk of miscarriage. Bleeding during pregnancy is also noted.
