A member asked:

3 days ago i took an advil but i swallowed it wrong and it got stuck in my throat. i still feel something there, did it go down the wrong pipe?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: If you aspirated an Advil tablet into your larynx or bronchial tube you would experience a medical emergency with violent coughing and serious respiratory distress. However it's likely that your throat(pharynx) sustained some irritation or inflammation from the local effects of the Advil while it was transiently lodged there. Gargle with warm, salt water to sooth this site or suck on lozenges.
