A member asked:

Ive had a stiff neck for 4 days and a bit of a headache, could this be meningitis? i read it symptoms could last months/years

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes/no: The acute dangerous forms of meningitis are not going to linger, they often strike you down & kill you within days. Viral, less worrisome & self healing forms may and some people can have headaches & mild meningeal responses to simple illnesses like mumps or chickenpox. Most cases of stiff neck/ headache are not either. If you are worried about it see a doc.
