A member asked:

For what reasons might gallstones cause pain if lining of gall bladder is not inflamed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Gallstones: Can cause obstruction of outflow of bile from the gallbladder, through cystic duct, and into the common duct. When the gallbladder contracts against this obstruction, it causes "biliary colic", which is painful.
