How is the sound and feel of coughs supposed to change when pneumonia is getting worse and getting better?

There is often: a poor correlation between the "sound" and "feel" of coughs and the status of a lung infection. We do distinguish "productive" v. "dry" coughs ..productive being sputum producing and associated with "clearing" of the infection but this is not always reliable! Hope this is helpful! Dr Z
