Cone biopsy: "Cone biopsies" of the cervix are done for abnormal cytology found on pap smears, and may result in scarring of the cervical canal, which may interfere with pregnancy attempts. Additionally, once pregnant, there may be other problems caused by cervical shortening and pre-mature dilation of the cervix. Generally, a cone biopsy does not cause difficulties with pregnancy, however.
