Hi there.i had a total left knee relacement on tuesday. the compression stockings fit under my knee and the knee swells up a lot. my leg hurts while they are on. how many hours must these be worn and how do i know they re fine. i was mesured.

Thigh high: If the stockings are causing a lot of swelling in the knee because they stop just short of it (calf high) you could consider switching to thigh high stockings. You don’t want to allow your postoperative knee site to become real Swollen if it can be prevented.

Stockings: if the calf length stocking is pulled up to high then you can have this issue the stocking should not be up to your knee and if it is it indicates that the stocking is too long i would recommend placing stocking with leg elevated and would stop at about 1-2 inches from the knee if this doesn't work then in agree that a thigh stocking may have benefit
