Inflamed lymphnodes: Inflamed lymph glands in your neck and chin area are probably the culprit causing pain. What happened is probably like this. You had a viral upper respiratory infection such as cold or flu and that effected the eustachian tubes causing a dysfunction of it and this dysfunction caused bacteria getting trapped and bacterial growth in your middle ear and giving you a middle ear infection and ear pain.
