Anxiety response: It is a common phenomenon that one's blood pressure may rise significantly prior to, during, and remain elevated for a period of time after a visit to the primary care physician or other doctor visits. The likely cause is anticipatory anxiety: the messages we may give ourselves plus or minus re what we may share &/or learn from the pcp.
