Does sucralfate only works on ulcer site or the entire stomach lining which is inflamed/damaged during gastritis? will it also prevent new ulcer?

Ulcer site: Sucralfate is used to treat and prevent duodenal ulcers. Sucralfate works by forming a coating over the ulcer. This protects the ulcer from the acid of the stomach, allowing it to heal.

Agree w 2 Doc: In addtion,Usually most Primary cares as well as Gastro that I have seen and work with do not use this alone and use with a proton pump inhibitor.Of note the liquid is expensive but the tablets not so.Drop the tablet in a small amount like an ounce or two of water,it dissolves in about 3 seconds and then drink that.
