A member asked:

Friend was told that he was exposed to 800 millirems of radiation. is this concerning?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not necessarily: That is usual exposure from a barium enema. Yes there be a calculable risk of causing cancer but very low & probably justifiable if indeed there was necessary test to provide therapy. Consider the avg american gets about 80mrem/yr just due to naturally occurring radiation, some much higher due to geography & w/ radon exposure.
