A member asked:

Is it ok for my children to be around my friend who is getting radiation treatments for cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: People getting radiation therapy often ask if they are "radioactive." external radiation treatments do not cause the patient to become radioactive and there is no risk for your children to be around the patient. There could be a risk to the patient though if your kids are sick!
