A member asked:

Does longterm adderall usage lower serotonin? rather, when dopamine goes up does serotonin go down with longtime usage?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mixed: Adderall blocks the re-uptake of dopamine, which increases the amount between neurons. If you are a person with naturally low levels of dopamine, the adderall would bring the level up to normal. If normal or high levels of dopamine, the adderall would push you to abnormally high levels. That overstimulation is toxic to the brain. Not sure of the direct impact to just serotonin.
