A 30-year-old male asked:
Does ativan decrease serotonin and tsh like klonopin does? i know hallucinations are listed as side effect for ativan (dopamine?) reason why i ask is because i have hyper-thyroid like symptoms that klonopin was helping with but switched to ativan?

Neither ativan nor klonopin impact serotonin or TSH. Rather they work at the GABA receptor in the brain to reduce anxiety, muscle tension, and induce sedation. The "Hyperthyroid symptoms" that you mention may or may not be your thyroid. Getting bloodwork (TSH, Free T4) is needed to identify any thyroid disorder.
