Blood in the stool: See your health care provider. You will need a rectal exam rule out hemorrhoids . If it is negative then you need to be referred to a gi specialist for sigmoidoscopy or a colonoscopy.

Had a hard stool and a known exterior hemorrhoid. Wiped and there was a streak of blood. Stools since have been fine with no blood. My doctor indicated to not worry as this might be from straining, which I was doing. Still scared?
