Hemorrhoid : Blood streaking in or on the stool is a common sign of hemorrhoids but it can be sign of other serious illness as well. If the bleeding is scant, painless and not accompanied by weight loss, it is more likely to be caused by a benign (innocent) condition. Persitant bleeding, regardless of associated symptoms, should always be evaluated. When in doubt always check with your doctor.

Agree with Dr. V: Hemorrhoids/piles are a likely explanation Bleeding from piles can cause anemia, so it is imperative that you see a doctor. To keep your stool soft you may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. Take oral iron and multivitamins to prevent anemia from blood loss.
