Probably not: a small amount of blood in the stool is probably benign if it's hard and has to come out with force. In general, if you see blood anywhere from your body, it is good to know where it is coming from and why. This is more important the older you are. If it happens once or is small amount, it is worth seeing a doctor on a non-urgent basis to get a diagnosis. You will know then what to do if it recurs
