A member asked:

I was involved with a drug user and tested negative for hiv one week after exposure. how accurate are these results?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends: If nucleic acid test it is accurate , if p24 antigen test it may not be accurate and you need antibody testing a month after hiv exposure and if test result comes out negative you need test to be repeated 3 months after exposure and if again test comes out negative that is conclusive.
