A member asked:

My last screening showed that my total cholesterol was 6.78, hdl 1.09 and triglycerides were 7.34. it couldn't read my ldl. what should i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Direct measurement: Usually LDL is calculated from total cholesterol, HDL and Trig. However, your triglyceride level is too high for an accurate estimation of LDL. Talk to your doctor about getting a directly measured LDL rather than a calculated one. However, it is more important that you reduce your Trig levels by losing weight reducing saturated fat and carbohydrate intake.
