Prognosis of stroke: If the brain swelling subsides,he can recover, but can not predict to what level.Very unlikely to return to normal life. Talk to the treating doc about the current status.

Subsequent to a stroke with or without bleeding, brain swelling maximizes at 36-48 hrs, but if there is ongoing brain damage, a mass effect will progress, with additional problems. Your local physician team should be able to best advise you regarding status and prognosis. Impossible to predict outcomes without extensive additional data.
