A member asked:

Can an emg of the leg diagnose arthritis? the nurse called and said i have arthritis and aggravation at l5. where would the arthritis be? what's next?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

NO: EMG will evaluate how nerve impulses are transmitted and not used to diagnose arthritis. Traditionally routine x-rays and if necessarty MRI imaging will help make the diagnosis along with a rheumatoid blood workup.
