I had bavk surgery and some metal plates placed in my back at times it feels like something ja going to pop out is that normal?

Metal plates: First, please see the surgeon so he/she can check to make sure all is well. Then remember that you are adjusting to having had surgery and helpful foreign objects in your body so you may be be focused on that area at present. Peace and good health.

Contact surgeon!: We don't have enough info! Your surgeon does, though. He/she knows exactly what was wrong and how the procedure was done. He/she also knows if what you are feeling is normal at this stage, or not. Give the office a call or go follow up with that doc.
