Pulmonologist: Consult a pulmonologist to determine whether there is true inflammation present. The xray alone can't detect active inflammation for a certainty. It could be old inactive pleural thickening. If the pain is very sharp and fleeting, aggravated by a deep breath, it could emanate from pleural inflammation or from a pinched intercostal nerve or muscle.
