Dipsticks no good: Urine dipsticks for protein, even when repeated, are unreliable. You need a proper urinalysis, by far best is a 24 hr. collection. This will also check for other things in your urine. Simple blood tests are also done. If you do have significant protein in your urine, you need a medical workup. The possibilities are too broad to speculate at this point.
