Prostate biopsy: https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/healthlibrary/test_procedures/urology/prostate_biopsy_92,p07710 There are 3 ways the biopsy can be done transrectal, perineal or transurethral- through the urethra/ penis . Only the transurethral would need anesthesia and it can be local or general. Will your doctor be treating prostatic hypertrophy as well? f/u/ w/ urology
