A member asked:

Fell on both hands a year ago.had x-rays&mri for left wrist.mri:mild increased t2signal intensity of the median nerve which can be seen with cts.ortho. wants me to take emg to rule out cts.are there risk-free&painless tests/ways to rule out cts?

Splint first: While EMG is very low risk and only somewhat unpleasant, it can be reserved for cases in which surgery is contemplated or the diagnosis needs to be confirmed. Conservative measures like splinting can be done first. Therapy depends on degree of symptoms, which are not mentioned above. Don't just treat a high T2 image, treat symptoms.
